Ephemeral masquerades
When it is understood that the ruin is absolute
when faith is not a consolation
when it is impossible to have hope
everything is different
in the frontiers of life
we can feel how it escapes us
as a revelation
that cannot last longer than a whisper
Submerged in our own laziness
longing to understand it all at the last moment
of our existence
But the end will not reveal us much
we´ll leave this world
as hollow as we have lived.
Embedded in the greatest illusion that exist
we forget that life is captive by death.

cuando la fe no es un consuelo
cuando es imposible tener esperanza
todo es distinto
en las fronteras de la vida
podemos sentir como ella misma se nos escapa
como una revelación
que no puede durar más que un suspiro
Sumergidos en nuestra propia pereza
anhelando comprenderlo todo al momento último
de nuestra existencia
Pero el final no nos revelará gran cosa
dejaremos este mundo tan vacíos
como hemos vivido.
Embebidos de la mayor ilusión que existe
olvidamos que la vida se halla cautiva de la muerte.
Nos aferramos a efímeras mascaradas
constituyendo los cimientos de un engaño
que durante toda nuestra existencia intentamos derribar

Clenched teeth
blank stare and silent
exhaling hate with each breath
tired of cursing the sky
pulling against the wind
the sails of memories
that disregard the course of time.
No matter how much we cling on
to the ruins of what once was,
ashes don't feed the fire
Walking through laments and pain
as specters from the past
which rise between the cracks
tormenting memories arise
crawling out to claim what is theirs
when inner demons tear the flesh
the will to ease the pain gives them battle
as if all the blood dripped from each wound
could assuage their thirst
But blood doesn´t feed the fire
Desperate attempts
to end our suffering
have lead us in vain
through the bleak corners of our mind
and in the search for comfort
we confront the true faces
that shouldn’t be unmasked.
The memories we grieve
in woeful cries
drop by drop flooding each path
constricts us in the the mire
Laments are useless
because tears don't feed the fire
When all hope fades
and hate emerges
I breathe the flame of life
which boils the blood
melts the ashes
and vaporizes tears
No more weeping grief
No more tears to drain.
Trample ashes with rage
because hate can feed the fire
winds of hate can feed the fire
with hate I´ll feed the fire

Los dientes apretados
la mirada en blanco y silenciosa
exhalando odio por cada aliento
cansado de maldecir al cielo
Empujando contra el viento
las velas de los recuerdos
que hacen caso omiso del curso del tiempo.
No importa cuánto nos aferremos
a las ruinas de lo que alguna vez fue
Las cenizas no alimentan el fuego
Caminando a través del dolor y lamentos
como espectros del pasado
Que se levantan entre las grietas
los recuerdos atormentadores surgen
arrastrándose para reclamar lo que les pertenece
Cuando los demonios internos desgarran la carne
la voluntad de aliviar el dolor les da batalla
como si toda la sangre derramada de cada herida
pudiese calmar su sed
Pero la sangre no alimenta el fuego
Intentos desesperados
por poner fin a nuestro sufrimiento
nos han llevado en vano
por los rincones sombríos de nuestra mente
y buscando tranquilidad
enfrentamos las caras reales
que no deberían ser desenmascaradas.
Los recuerdos que lloramos
en gritos desgarrados
gota a gota inundaron cada camino
dejándonos inmóviles entre el fango.
Los lamentos han sido inútiles
ya que las lagrimas no alimentan el fuego
Cuando toda esperanza desaparece
y el odio emerge
Respiro la llama de la vida
que hierve la sangre
derrite las cenizas
y vaporiza lágrimas
No más recuerdos llorosos
no más lágrimas para drenar
Pisotear las cenizas con ira
Porque el odio puede alimentar el fuego
Vientos de odio alimentarán el fuego
Con odio yo alimentaré el fuego

Gaerea's first release of "Unsettling Whispers" was in 2018, and since, they dared define a "black metal" niche of their own, they dared to walk a new path and stir shit up a bit in the realm of BM, this album is a masterpiece and a milestone proving that it can be done, provided the band can pull it off, and they did, oh they did! Gloomy, dark, post-BM sludgy whatever, it's Gaerea, and this one belongs in my BC collection, the end.
